Am I a minimalist?

A friend of mine said a little while ago that I was a minimalist.

I didn’t agree or disagree. I had never worried about defining the way I live.

After reading blogs and various books I realised that minimalists seem to focus on how few possessions they can live with. In some circles it seems to be the less you can live with the higher ‘status’ you have.

However, living with as little as possible is not my focus (no doubt some minimalists would argue the same ;)

My focus is to remove unnecessary stress from our lives, reduce our carbon footprint on our gorgeous planet and to make the most of this ‘one wild and precious life’ [Mary Oliver, Summer Day].

So if I had to be defined by a word or a category…what does that make me?

I’m not a minimalist, I like stuff that has function, beauty and longevity.

I’m not a pure simplistic living advocate. I enjoy technology. I believe technology has a place in our societies if we can learn to live in balance.

Do we have to have to fit in a definition...
